Eric CHAN (b. 1975, Malaysia) trained at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia and LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. Since 2000, his works have been exhibited in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Australia, UK, UAE and the Philippines. In 2002, he was awarded the Juror’s Choice at the Philip Morris ASEAN Art Awards, and in 2003, he received the Highly Commended accolade at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition. In 2007, Chan was the first artist to inaugurate the BMW Young Asian Artists series in collaboration with the Singapore Tyler Print Institute.
During the course of his twenty years of practice, Chan explored tirelessly the different facets of oil painting. Initially an abstract painter, Chan established himself as one of Southeast Asia’s leading contemporary painters with his hyper-realistic compositions of flora and fauna, and is equally skilled in figurative painting.
His works have been collected by the Singapore Art Museum, CapitaLand, United Overseas Bank, UBS, Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Singapore), and the Burger Collection.
Chan lives and works in Singapore.
