SYAGINI RATNA WULAN
20 APR - 14 JUN 2017
FOST GALLERY

Syagini’s new works emanate from her exploration into the philosophy of existentialism and the state of Being. But in her journey to seek a deeper understanding, she found that the more she researched, the less she knew, and the more the truth is concealed.

A prolific and versatile artist, Syagini has worked in mediums as diverse as installations and fine, line drawings, and has also included performative elements in her artworks. However she has most recently been exploring the interplays of light, colour and perception.

This is Syagini’s first major solo exhibition in Singapore and it is organised in collaboration with ROH Projects, Jakarta.

RADIANT MATERIAL: A DIALOGUE IN VIETNAMESE LACQUER PAINTING
FEATURING PHI PHI OANH
05 JUN - 03 SEP 2017
NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE

From 5 June 2017, National Gallery Singapore will be presenting a special commission by Phi Phi Oanh as part of the exhibition Radiant Material: A Dialogue in Vietnamese Lacquer Painting. It will be displayed in dialogue with Nguyen Gia Tri's Les Fées (The Fairies), an iconic modern Vietnamese lacquer painting from the 1930s. In contrast to the monumental and painterly qualities of Les Fées, Phi Phi Oanh's work will use the lacquer medium to explore the screen and device-based viewing experiences of today.

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Music Manuscripts No.26-29 by the Museum Voorlinden in the Netherlands.

The artwork is now on view in the group exhibition In The Meantime at Museum Voorlinden. This exhibition features artworks that prompt viewers to experience “emotional time”. Museum's visitors are invited to slow their pace, to come to a standstill, and – if only for moment – to forget about the clock.
