As part of the ongoing development of 5cm square, more or less, Grace Tan will present 10cm square, more or less, a site-specific durational activation at a stone tile factory in Sungei Kadut.
Taking place in situ within an industrial site preparing for closure as the land is returned to the state, the activation invites audience participation in making the work together with the artist. Participants will be given a set of instructions written by the artist to guide them in arranging stone fragments found in the factory into a 10cm grid on the factory floor, entering a shared process of placing, spacing, and adjusting.
The activation considers how measure, material, labour, and land are shaped by larger systems of planning, industry, circulation, and change. It will be documented on film for future presentation. Participation is by pre-registration through FOST Gallery, and all participants will be required to provide consent to be filmed.
