WORKS‍EXHIBITIONS PROFILE

Joanne Lim (b. 1985; Singapore) is interested in translating and visualising data collected through long-term, community-driven projects. Her practice explores how data and lived experiences can be transformed into aesthetic forms, working across a range of mediums to address contemporary social and political issues — especially topics on surveillance, hierarchy, and power.

Lim first graduated with an LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of Southampton (2011) before pursuing a BA (Hons) in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts, where she received the LASALLE Award for Academic Excellence in 2022; as well as the Winston Oh Travelogue Award in 2022, 2024 and 2025. Lim also received the inaugural Asia-wide Art Futures Award in 2023 and was nominated for the Takifuji Art Award in 2024. Notably, her work has been shown in From Palais to Pulau, Penang, Malaysia (2025); SOUP, Tenthaus and Critical Craft Collective, Bergen, Norway (2023); Easteast_Tokyo2023, Science Museum, Tokyo (2023); The Museum is Dead, OH! Open House (2023); Frequencies as part of The Substation’s Septfest, Singapore (2022).
